Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who escaped the county detention center Saturday.
At 5:20 p.m. Saturday, 42-year-old inmate Jeremy Buchanan was working in the kitchen when he exited the building through a delivery door and escaped over the fence where deliveries are received, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on X.
Buchanan was booked into jail on June 2 on charges of first-degree motor vehicle theft, violations of a protection order, violation of parole, possession of a controlled substance, a traffic offense, resisting arrest and several failure to appear offenses.

Buchanan was homeless and living in Denver when he was booked into jail, according the the Sheriff’s office.
